Familiar Comfort (2024), Variable Dimensions, Stockings, Polyester filling, Aluminium foil, Cloth, Wax, Thread
Marked by personal diasporic experiences, Familiar Comfort (2024) investigates the relationship between comfort, home and the body. The work draws upon Bachelard's notion of the home as the corner of one’s world, foregrounding the gallery corner as the central site for shelter and comfort. Installed within the space, the work offers viewers a choice between intruding or remaining at a distance to preserve the figure’s sense of comfort and security.
